Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any Special Care Instructions?
Yes!  Please do not wear your bracelets in water.  Please remove your Lizzy James jewelry before bathing, swimming, hot yoga class, exercise etc.  And as much as you may love them, please don’t shower with them!  Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions or hair products.
Do not polish goldplate or silverplate, and do not use any jewelry cleaner, as this will accelerate the wearing away of the anti-tarnish coating and the plating. 
As for the metal, the silver plate crescents will not tarnish or turn black, but they will patina over time.  
Sterling silver tarnishes - especially when exposed to salt air or products containing sulfur.  Use a silver cloth to polish. When you are not wearing it, put it in a pouch.
Lizzy James is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewelry.

What kind of Leathers do you use?

We offer leather for our products in three finishes and many colors: natural dye finish, gloss finish or metallic finish.  The natural dye used in the Lizzy leather wraps has a slightly uneven variegated color making it look casual and organic.  It wears the longest, compared to the metallic and gloss leather finishes. The metallic and gloss finishes have a brighter and consistent color.

Dress up or down with these finish options.

Because leather is organic (i.e. from a cow), it will vary in shape, color and consistency.  In addition, it will soften as well as crack over time.  The style of the Lizzy leather wrap bracelet is a "lived-in look".    

What Metals do you use?

The metals in the Lizzy Metal Wrap bracelets are made out of silver plate with 99.5% sterling silver, brass plate, 22k gold plate, sterling silver and stainless steel. All metals are lead and nickel free.

We do incorporate some mixed metal and pewter beads in some of our styles. Why? Because we (and you) love the look of these handmade beads that accompany our silverplate beads.

The most popular finish is our silver plate.  Why?  It is both a fashion statement and is affordable.  The silver plate and gold plate will patina with age, which is a normal reaction with skin and air.  Mixed metal beads - depending on how much you wear your wrap - may also patina or attain an earthy copper tone over time, creating a beautiful hue.

We appreciate the crescents' patina because it gives the bracelet a natural relaxed organic look.  If you prefer the look of your piece to continually shine then we recommend our sterling silver collection, which can be polished to near perfection.  

If you lean toward this shiny look, but don't want to be bothered with polishing, then we recommend our stainless steel pieces, which do not tarnish and retains its shine for long periods of time.

In our Stainless Steel collection, the crescents on the wrap are thicker, and are created on a thicker leather cord.  Stainless steel is a muted silver grey tone – different than the silver plate or sterling silver which is shiny.  This look gives you a  cool ‘rock and roll’ vibe.

The Stainless Steel collection is unisex and comes with either a large secure stainless steel clasp, or a silverplate clasp, your choice.

22kt goldplated crescents and beads will oxidate when exposed to oxygen, perfume, lotions and the like.  It will give your jewelry a 'lived in' look.

What is the weight of the Lizzy Wrap Bracelets and Necklaces?

All of the Lizzy James pieces are designed to be so light weight that it feels really comfortable to wear!
So comfortable that you may forget to take it off.
The actual weight of the Leather Lizzy wraps are 1.7 ounces, while the Lizzy Sterling Silver line is a little over 2 ounces.  The Boho necklaces with charms weigh on average 2 ounces.
Our customers like to wear multiple Lizzy wraps on the same arm, because they are light weight, comfortable and make a unique fashion statement when stacked together.
How secure are the Wrap Bracelets' Clasps?

We really love the concept of a secure, oversized jewelry clasp, practical and fashionable.  Every woman can easily put on and take off our wraps with these easy-to-use clasps.  That is an integral aspect of my designs.  From time to time our clasps may vary, depending upon designer's choice, number of strands and availability.

What do I do if the beads or crescents fall to the bottom under my wrist - now I see mostly leather at the top of my wrist?

This can be solved by spreading out all the beads and crescents along the leather before putting it on your wrist.

If it still happens after spreading them out, then chances are you ordered a size too large for your wrist.  You can shorten your bracelet using the tips below, or exchange it for a smaller size according to our exchange policy.

Can I wear my Lizzy Wrap every day?

We know you're going to LOVE your Lizzy wrap and will want to wear it everyday.  But please resist the urge!  Just like your favorite pair of shoes, or your favorite t-shirt, you should allow your wrap to have periods of non-wear. This will help lengthen the life of your bracelet and will keep it looking fabulous for as long as possible.

My leather broke, can you help?

The leather is quite strong and can withstand normal wear and tear for years.  If the leather broke, (or you got it wet with lotions, oils, excessive sweat, etc. in some cases) in some cases, we can restring your wrap for you.  

If the metal components are in good condition, the cost of restringing ranges from $25-$35 (plus $6 shipping).  Please send us a picture of your bracelet so we can determine what is best for you.

Traveling

Use a soft fabric pouch if you don’t have enough room for a jewelry box with a hard exterior.

Jewelry should be stored in a dry place away from humidity, moisture and extreme temperatures.  So if you have jewelry sitting next to your bathroom sink, consider moving it to another room.

Can I order Special Custom Sizes?

Yes! We are proud that our bracelets are custom and handmade for every wrist size. Our sizes fit the smallest wrist (size Tiny) to the largest wrist (size XXXLarge). Most women wear size Small & Medium. Also, several sizes may fit one person, depending on how you like to wear it. Some women like it tighter (like a cuff), but most prefer it looser (like a bangle).

TO FIND YOUR CORRECT SIZE PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING-

Measure your wrist with a string, ribbon or tape measure SNUG WITHOUT SLACK -  directly above your wrist bone (on the wrist you are going to wear it on) - to determine your size wrist.  (We need you to measure your wrist, not another bracelet.)

This measurement allows us to create a bracelet with slack in it, so that it comfortably fits your wrist loosely and dangles.

Tiny fits a wrist that measures 5" - 5 3/8"
Petite fits a wrist that measures 5 1/2"-5 3/4"
Small fits a wrist that measures 5 ⅞” – 6 ⅛”
Medium fits a wrist that measures 6 ¼” – 6 ½”
Large fits a wrist that measures 6 5/8” – 6 7/8”
XLarge fits a wrist that measures 7 1/8" - 7 3/8"
XXLarge fits a wrist that measures 7 1/2" - 7 3/4"
XXXLarge fits a wrist that measures 7 7/8" - 8 1/4"

For sizes XL, XXL and XXXL (and some styles Large) there is a $10 charge for silver plate and 22kt goldplate wraps, and a $20 - $30 charge for sterling silver wraps.

If you order a size that is not comfortable for your wrist, you can exchange it within 7 days for a different size.  

We want you to be happy with your purchase, so please measure carefully. 

Each piece is handmade especially for you. If you measure incorrectly and need to exchange,  we have a minimal exchange fee of $15 per piece.   Why? We do not recycle or resell returned items.  The returned item is a loss for us.

This fee covers a fraction of our loss when we receive a return and make you a new piece.  We also incur a shipping expense to send the new piece back to you.

You know the familiar adage "measure twice, cut once." Let's both get it correct the first time!

How long are the Necklaces?

The Small and Medium sizes of our necklaces, that are also bracelets, (which are the size requests of  95% of our customers) are 19-23 inches in length for the majority of our styles.  

Our longer necklaces (e.g. Infinity, Boho Long, Annie Long, Ginger Long, Jessie Long) are approximately 35 inches in length.

Our styles that start with the word "Mini" - are only made to be a bracelet.

How do I shorten my Wrap Bracelet?

Here are a few suggestions to 'shorten' the bracelet.
- make an overhand knot on either end of the bracelet next to the existing knot. This will take in some of the slack from being too loose. Click this link to see a video demonstration:

- wear it higher up on your wrist (closer to your forearm), above your watch or another bracelet.  That part of your arm is a bit bigger then your wrist, making it fit better. 

- when wrapping your bracelet around your wrist, you can take one of the ends and criss cross, or tuck it, underneath one of the wraps to take up some of the slack.

What does the word "Mini" mean before the bracelet name?

When you see the word "Mini" before a bracelet name, (for example - Mini Friendship, Mini Boho...)  that means that it will wrap around the wrist twice.
These bracelets are primarily worn as bracelets only.  Some very petite women might be able to wear them as a choker, but don't count on that!
So, if you only want the bracelet - buy a "Mini" version, and if you want the option to wear it as a necklace - and you want to show a bit more on your wrist, then buy the style without the word "Mini".
What does the word "Demi" mean before the bracelet name?
When you see the word "Demi" before a bracelet name, (for example - Demi Dot, Demi Blossom...)  that means that the wrap is from our dainty collection that features thinner gauge leather and silverplate crescents.
Where are the Charms placed on the Wrap Bracelet or Necklace?

The charms are placed in the middle of the wrap for the following bracelets: Love wrap, Double Love wrap, Friendship wrap, Girlfriend wrap, Mini Boho and Boho style wraps.  We think it looks best there.

When additional charm(s) are purchased, we recommend that the charm be placed on the clasp.

Hey, it's your fashion statement so feel free to wear it how you see fit!

When you purchase our charms for other Lizzy James style bracelets, they come with a petite lobster clasp so you can place it where you wish.

You can add or remove these charms from your jewelry whenever you wish.

Experiment. Have fun.  The options are infinite. 

How do I become a Lizzy James Wholesaler?

How Do I Know My Order Has Shipped?

Due to the huge demand for Lizzy James bracelets, orders are crafted and shipped within 7 business days (Monday - Friday) of receiving the order.

**Orders placed with Overnight shipping are produced and shipped within 1-2 business days.**

Have a deadline?  Birthday? Gift?  Please let us know in the notes or comments of your order.

After your order is produced and reviewed by quality assurance, you receive an email that your order has shipped.   That email will also include a copy of your order for your records.

Will I be Charged Sales Tax?

If you are a reseller of Lizzy James products then you will not be charged sales tax.  If you live in California, and are not a reseller, then the state requires that we charge 8% sales tax with your order.  Your sales tax gets remitted to the state of California on a quarterly basis.

Is a Signature Required For Delivery?

We usually do not require a signature for delivery.  If you would like us to require signature, please let us know when you place your order, in the comments section of the order. Or email us at customerservice@lizzyjames.com after you place your order – include your order number - and we will make sure a signature is required for delivery.

Do I have to be home?

We ship our packages with US Postal Service and you do not have to be home to receive your delivery.  Our packages are usually delivered together with your regular US mail service.

What do I do if the tracking number shows it was delivered - and I don't have it?

If the USPS tracking number shows it was delivered to your address, then there is very little we can do at that point.  Their scan 'proves' that they delivered it to your address.

Here are several suggestions that we have found to be very helpful in locating missing packages:

1 - Is it possible someone else in your household forgot to tell you it arrived? 9 times out of 10 this is the case.

2 - Have you spoken to your mail carrier person? They had to scan the package when they delivered it, so it’s possible he/she will remember something about the package. 

For example, sometimes he/she will place a package somewhere other than in your mailbox if it won’t fit (usually behind a plant, patio furniture, etc.). Or they may have accidentally delivered it to a neighbor.

3 - If you aren’t able to speak to him/her directly, we recommend leaving a note in your mailbox with the tracking number and tell them it was shipped in a Priority Mail flat rate box.

4 - Have you checked to see if a neighbor received your package by mistake?

5 - If by some chance your delivery person isn’t able to clarify and you aren’t able to locate your package with a neighbor, you may open an investigation by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777). Your inquiry will then be routed to your local post office where they will research the delivery of your package.

If the scan shows it was delivered to your address, it means we met our responsibility to you.  In that case we are not able to provide refunds (or we will go out of business!!).

What do I do if I gave you the wrong Ship To address?

Please let us know!  If it hasn't shipped yet, we can change the shipping address.  
If it has shipped we will need to wait for it to return to us.  When we receive it back, we reship it to the correct shipping address.  Since the first time we ship your order it is free, there is a fee of $8 to reship to the correct address.   You can pay this with a credit card by email or by calling customer service, OR directly to our Paypal account to: lizzy@lizzyjames.com.  

What is Your Return or Exchange Policy?  

Lizzy James wants you to be happy with your purchase. Each piece is handmade to order in our California studio especially for you. We don't just take it out of "stock" like an imported piece, and therefore are unable to offer refunds.
 

If you need to exchange, we have a minimal exchange fee of $15 per piece.  Why?  We do not recycle or resell returned items.  The returned item is a loss for us.

This fee covers a fraction of our loss when we receive a return and make you a new piece.  We also incur a shipping expense to send the new piece back to you.

Time is of the essence, during the year we will only accept exchanges within 7 days of the date your item was delivered.   There are no refunds on custom made jewelry.
(Note: Holiday Gift Exchange Policy:  Purchases made between November 2 - December 20, may be exchanged if returned before January 8, 2017).  
Please be fair to us and remember that we are only able to accept a return that is unworn, unused, in the original condition. We cannot accept an exchange if it doesn’t meet these basic requirements.  (Wholesale accounts - no exchanges - you already know that.)
Before sending your return to us, please:
1. Contact us via email at customerservice@lizzyjames.com for an Exchange RMA.  In your email, please include your order number/receipt and what you would like in exchange.

EXCHANGE PROCESSING TIME

FROM THE TIME WE RECEIVE YOUR RETURN, IT TAKES 3-5 DAYS FOR US TO CRAFT A NEW BRACELET FOR YOU.

FROM THE TIME YOU SEND IT TO US, IT WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY 10-14 DAYS FOR YOU RECEIVE YOUR NEW BRACELET BACK.

YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM US THE DAY IT SHIPS.

All items are handmade, and may contain slight differences in color, shape and size.  The wrap is made of leather, which is a natural product.  It will naturally soften and crack.  This is normal and inherent to the product.  As with any leather items, Lizzy wraps are NOT to be worn in water and should not get wet.
In the unlikely event of a defect, please contact us within 7 days of receipt of your item at customerservice@lizzyjames.com or by phone at 877-554-1215.

How do I measure my finger?

Many people know their finger size, and also of course you have the option to wear a ring on 10 fingers and 10 toes!
But if you want to wear a ring on a specific finger and don’t know the size, here are the things you will need:

- Ruler
- Thin strip of paper

Cut a thin strip of paper (about 1/8” x 6”)
Wrap the paper around your finger. Make sure the paper is below the joint of your
finger and close to your knuckle.
Mark the spot where the paper meets and measure the distance with your ruler.
Use the following chart to determine your ring size. 

Size 5: 1 15/16 inches

Size 6: 2 1/16 inches

Size 7: 2 1/8 inches

Size 8: 2 1/4 inches

Size 9: 2 5/16 inches

Size 10: 2 7/16 inches

What is your exchange policy?

We will gladly exchange your ring for your within 7 days of the date your item was
delivered. During Christmas and holiday season we also allow exchanges after the holiday period - up to Jan 5.
Before sending your return to us, please:

1. Contact us via email at customerservice@lizzyjames.com for an Exchange RMA.
In your email, please include your order number/receipt and what you would like in exchange.
